Recently, people have been asking me how I keep my online and atm transactions safe. Well, to answer those questions and hopefully help others, here are my thoughts.
Online Transactions
1. Keep you password strong. – dont use wimpy ass passwords like your name or your birthday or something people can easily guess at by looking at your facebook profile or something. Use capital letters with numbers and other signs.
2. Do not save your password on your browser.. why? anyone can login when they get their hands on your pc, tablet or phone.
3. Never share you password with anyone.
4. Uncheck remember password option
5. Do not write down your password anywhere that is not secure
ATM’s
1. Make sure no one is close enough to see you pin number when you enter it, or cover it with your hand
2. Double check the machine – look at the cash dispenser slot if there is something attached or blocking it.
3. Double check the card slot and see that its normal and nothing is attached to it.
4. make sure that the keyboard cover actually doesnt have anything attached.
5. Make sure the atm you are withdrawing from is in a safe place and wel lighted
6. Do not leave your receipt in the machine -people will know how much money you have left in your account and just may try to rob you.
7. DO not count your money in the machine – there are very slim chances that the machine will make a mistake is dispensing cash. And if there is – you can easily file a complaint with the bank and they can easily check all the dispensed money and make corrections like debiting or crediting.
