Food Ideas for the Lenten Season

Lent is the season of prayers, repentance and fasting for a lot of Catholics… besides the fact that you are not allowed to eat meat like pork during this time.. So I thought I’d share what we typically eat during this season…

For breakfast, it’s almost always pancakes and eggs.. and this Easter Sunday is no exception…It’s pancakes again with chocolate and maple syrup..

Maya Hotcakes - uploaded by wahpinas

All you need to cook these yummy pancakes from Maya is 1 medium sized egg, 2 tablespoons of oil, 3/4 cup water and the hotcake mix- 250 grams..

!st, put the egg in a bowl.. beat it like you are making a scrambled egg.. add the oil… water and hotcake mix… stir until just slightly lumpy – then start pouring it in portions in the pre heated, slightly greased pan… makes 9-10 hotcakes.. cool right?

Now for lunch –  we had a variation of Century Tuna Lite.. cooked with garlic and star margarine.

1st the garlic needs to be sauteed, you can chose to use regular oil or use the star margarine garlic for better garlicky  taste…. then add in the century tuna – lite…instant garlic tuna! for those spicy lovers you can add some crushed chili to the mix.

Happy Eating!
